Best Practices:
- We cannot color match. Please see our Color Optimization Guide in order to get great results including true black and blue colors.
- Get the perfect cut. Please see our Die Cut Printing Guide for instructions on how to setup your design file. (Not applicable to every product or print, only products that need to be die-cut or contour cut.)
- Surface preparation. Ensure that the surface where the sticker will be applied is clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, or other debris. Cleaning the surface beforehand will help the sticker adhere properly and prevent any imperfections.
- Proper application technique. Applying vinyl stickers requires a certain level of skill and attention to detail. Start by peeling off a small portion of the backing paper and align the sticker with the desired location. Gradually peel off the backing paper while smoothing out the sticker from one end to the other, using a squeegee or a credit card to remove air bubbles and ensure a smooth application. Take your time and work slowly to avoid wrinkles or misalignment.
- Temperature considerations. Ensure that the temperature of the surface and the surrounding environment is suitable for applying vinyl stickers. Extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, can affect the adhesive properties and may result in poor adhesion. It's generally recommended to apply vinyl stickers at temperatures between 50°F and 90°F (10°C and 32°C) for optimal results.
- Positioning and alignment. Plan the positioning and alignment of the sticker carefully before applying it. Use measuring tools, levelers, or masking tape as guides to ensure accurate placement. Taking the time to position the sticker correctly will prevent the need for adjustments or reapplication.
- Avoiding air bubbles. Air bubbles can affect the appearance of the sticker. Use a squeegee or credit card to smooth out the sticker while applying it, starting from the center and working outward to push out any trapped air. Applying gentle and even pressure will help eliminate air bubbles and ensure a clean finish.
- Maintenance and longevity. After applying the vinyl sticker, avoid washing or disturbing it for at least 24 to 48 hours to allow the adhesive to properly set. Additionally, regularly inspect the sticker for any signs of damage or peeling, and promptly address any issues to maintain its appearance and longevity.
- Seek professional assistance if needed. If you are uncertain about your ability to apply the vinyl sticker correctly, it may be worth seeking professional help. Professional installers have the necessary expertise and tools to ensure a flawless application.
